Important update on the M&S and SSE partnership

After nine years, SSE and M&S have taken the decision to end their relationship. SSE and M&S have achieved a lot as partners, supplying 100% green energy and supporting over 70 community energy projects under the M&S Energy brand.

M&S Energy customers will continue to be supplied by SSE, with no interruption to their supply once the partnership has ended on 28 September 2018. We’ve written to all customers to let them know what is happening with their tariff. You can still log in to your energy account at any time.

Frequently asked questions about the partnership ending

Why has the relationship come to an end?

After many successful years of working together to provide customers with gas and electricity, the two companies have decided not to continue with their relationship. The separation is an amicable one and SSE is still committed to supplying M&S Energy customers’ energy.

Who supplies my energy today?

SSE was M&S’ energy supply partner until 28 September 2018, supplying the electricity and gas for M&S Energy’s customers and providing customer services. Customers don’t have to do anything to continue being supplied by SSE from 29 September. There will be no interruption to your energy supply.

What happens to my tariff?

For customers on the M&S Energy Standard tariff the price you pay for your current energy tariff will remain the same. The only difference is your M&S Energy Standard tariff will now show as SSE Standard tariff on the communications you receive from 29 September 2018.

For customers on a fixed tariff you will continue to pay the same prices you currently pay for your fixed energy tariff until its end date. We’ll write to you closer to the time of your fixed tariff ending to inform you of the choices available to you. The only change you’ll see is M&S Energy branding will be removed from the communications you receive from 29 September 2018.

For customers on the M&S Energy Assist tariff the price you pay for your current energy tariff will remain the same. The only difference is your M&S Energy Assist tariff will now show as SSE Energy Assist tariff on the communications you receive from 29 September 2018.

Will I be moved to another supplier now?

No. We are delighted to continue supplying your energy for as long as you choose us. There is no need to switch supplier unless you choose to do so.

When will the relationship between SSE and M&S formally end?

The relationship between SSE and M&S will formally end on 28 September 2018.
