Everyone should have access to the best energy deals. If you're a Pay As You Go customer with a debt of less than £500, it's now even easier to switch. The 'Debt Assignment Protocol' means Pay As You Go customers can change supplier and take their debt with them.

It does have terms and conditions and isn't guaranteed, but it could be an option for you if you want to switch.

How it works

  1. You ask us to take over your supply by signing up online or calling on 0345 026 7058. If you call us, we'll tell you about the 'Debt Assignment Protocol' over the phone. If you sign up online, we'll send you letters to explain the details.

  2. We contact your current energy company and ask to take your energy supply. When they object to you moving supply because of your debt, the 'Debt Assignment Protocol' will be activated.

  3. Switching takes about three weeks. We'll let you know what's going on every step of the way. You'll get a Welcome Pack with a copy of your contract and our terms and conditions.

  4. During the switch, we'll to contact you about your debt and agree weekly repayments. If we can't get in touch with you, your debt repayments will be the same as what you're repaying at the moment.

  5. We'll let you know when your supply is going to start with us and when your debt is moved as well.

If you're supplied by us at the moment and have a debt, you could change to another supplier. You'll need to check with them about how to switch.
